JDHS Swim Team
The swim team has been having a great year so far!
The team has 2 boy's relay teams going to state, Bonnie Brown going to state in an individual event, and are close to having a girl's relay team qualify as well. The swimmers have competed twice in Athens at UGA, as well as Douglas, Albany, and Waycross. The swim team is practicing four nights a week preparing for the state competition which will be held at Georgia Tech on February10,11,and 12.
JHDS swim team is made up of: freshman Kelsei Herrin and Kailyn Carver; sophomores Jarrett Anderson and Tyler Chaney; juniors Brandon Sellers, Ben Porter, Kristian Kirkland, and Bonnie Brown; seniors Andrew Maley and Morgan Hurley; Coaches Dan Herrin and Kim Porter
Fifth Grade New York/Washington, D.C. Trip
Each year, fifth grade students, parents, and teachers take an extraordinary trip to New York City and Washington D.C.

In order to increase the effectiveness of writing instruction provided to students in Jeff Davis County, teachers are currently receiving writing instruction through Write from the Beginning and Beyond. Write from the Beginning and Beyond is a developmental writing program for K-8 students.
